Please plan to attend our monthly meetings if you can! We'd love to have your input! Second Sunday of every month at 11:00 a.m. Jamison City Hotel Recent News ...Recent Meeting Minutes MEETING MINUTES AUGUST 9, 2009 ATTENDANCE: 17 members said the Pledge of Allegiance. Meeting was called to order at 11:10am CHAPLAIN’S BLESSING: Donna Remley gave the blessing in Randy Perry’s absence. READING OF MINUTES: The minutes from the July 12, 2009 meeting were approved as read. TREASURER’S REPORT: Randy was unable to attend but left Albert with the following information; the scholarship fund has a balance of $5,447.60, the general fund has a balance of $3,327.43 and the building fund still remains unchanged at $740.00. MEMBERSHIP: Mark Evarts had no new memberships. SUNSHINE COMMITTEE: Al received word that Trisomy Fox passed away. We learned that Rocky is suffering from gout, we’re hoping he gets better fast. OLD BUSINESS: The figures for the chili cook-off showed a $681.80 loss. Al wants any function/ event to have a committee that must break down the estimated cost of everything before any items are purchased for that function/event. A thank you letter was sent from EOS with a receipt for our donation. Al suggested we offer wine/coolers for those who don’t want to drink beer at the gun raffle. Mark Robbins reported someone at the golf tournament broke a window at the VFW, we’re sending a letter of apology. NEW BUSINESS: The pumpkin festival is October 17 & 18. The gun raffle is November 28. Mark has tickets for us to sell, see him after the meeting. We are looking into how many dictionaries will be needed this year for the Benton students. We’re not sure yet if we will be giving them to Northwest students. The EOS director wants us to sponsor and co-host a lunch for the kids. More info coming soon. A motion was approved to scrap the dunk tank at events. A new game idea was offered; water balloons tossed at raccoon face cut outs while members stand behind a board (so only our faces get wet). Albert has bravely offered to be the first volunteer to get blasted in the face. (HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD CHARGE AL?) A schedule needs to be implemented so the carnival grounds and equipment get cleaned up. Mark Robbins gave the following gambling report: $1,942 total, $500.00 to the general fund and $1,442.00 to the scholarship fund Next meeting is September 13, 11am at Jamison City Hotel. Having no further business, meeting closed at 12:03 pm. Please submit any information for publication to Rose Miller @ rose50@pa.metrocast.net Thanks for checking us out! Come back often! |
